June Audio
Lots of nostalgia in this month’s music. I think the mid-life feeling of being in a loop might be one of the reasons people crisis, and the acceptance of it might be one of life’s key hurdles. I’m always pretty stoic but perhaps time to adopt more of a late-stage living mindset? The déjà vu of it all this month has included the bright repetitions (Arkham nights, school show, catching up with friends, beer bottling, some sunny days, maintenance at the #cabin), the dull repetitions (climate catastrophe, politics, war, Civil Service Live conference, ASBO neighbours, Arnold Clark service team sucking, the woes of friends/family health problems, worry)… and the month also had some wonderful novelty (test drove a Renault 5, the biggest thunderstorm I’ve ever seen in Edinburgh (or anywhere!), Kafenion to Steki Greek restaurant date night, Mario’s at The Shore work picnic, and Belle & Sebastian outside at Kelvingrove).

We are Connected - BACK AT THE TENT
First tune from my friend and gig buddy Michael. Intrigued and excited by what comes next!
-
Rocks hard at the end. Love the quirky video too. Would love to add hey, nothing to the pile of November gigs but I think it might be one gig too many!
-
Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan - Boards Of Canada
13 years of evolution - dance, trip-hop, soundtrack, orchestral, joy - best track on the album.
-
Hallucinogenic - Sincere Engineer
So much energy on this album. Think this is my favourite track but I know the album will be on rotation.
-
Guy I Used To Be - Clyde Lawrence
Clyde doing a version of his own song and making it sound awesome.
-
Loving 595 and Bug In The Cake too. Solid first album.
-
The Intoxication Of Power - BRUIT ≤
Can’t stop loving this band. So sad that I didn’t make it to London but as soon as they make it to Scotland I’ll be there.
-
I think it’s fair to say that anticipation is high for this album in my house!
-
Also loving The Shape of Memory. Great album to work to (in the best possible way).
-
This song was HUGE in Hawick. Weird to hear it in the gym 30 years later.
-
Rewatched Empire Records for the first time in 20 years and a couple of tracks that didn’t make the legendary soundtrack made me grin.
-
Another Empire Records sleeper - whoever picked the music had their ear to the ground.
-
So It Goes - Hi-Lo Jack/Lawrence
Vibes. (And you should listen to Rain Check whilst you’re at it).
-
Frigate from GoldenEye 007 - Cor64
Yeah, the N64 Goldeneye 007 soundtrack played by a live band. Mind blown!
-
Hey You - The Belair Lip Bombs
Still listening to their album from last month,
-
Took me back to discovering Andy McKee.
