Plane 1: Oslo to Edinburgh

The flight we never intended but plans pivoted and here we go. Easy check-in, easy bag drop (even if the luggage machine took umbrage at our rucksacks). Security queue short but train issues heightened tensions as a few people were running - some physically - late. Moomin shop visited. Stocked up on Solo (Norwegian fizzy orange juice half way between Fanta and Orangina). Walked most of the way to Scotland. Spotted a very cool fixie indoor cargo bike with a massive aluminium box on the front. Border control officer gives France a row for not processing us properly on the way in to Schengen. Boarded via the runway rather than the bridge - our plane has Anders Celsius on the tailfin. Last breaths of Norwegian air. Plane is exactly as cramped as an EasyJet or Ryanair. We wait on the runway for 15 extra minutes after completing boarding so that the Trondheim flight passengers can make their connection. They make their connection, including the other half of a horn orchestra! Plane goes up, I watch The Grand Budapest Hotel, plane comes down and we see views of Cramond. Altogether as uneventful as we want our flights to be. We watch bags being unloaded, glad to spot our own small backpacks. On the runway we breathe Scottish air (and airline fuel). Trains win when it comes to disembarkation. We wait for our bags eating the last of our Norwegian tuck: blueberries, fluffy poppyseed bread and a bacon flavour peparami. The holiday has been a true Scandinavian/European adventure - much to share about the museums, art, walks, foods and activities from between travel. Thank you Europe, thank you for reading!
